Stuart was found wandering the streets in filthy condition, very hungry, with a horrific stench coming from his face/head. He was impounded in Blacktown Pound and not surprisingly, noone came to claim him.

It took over 2 hours and some heavy sedation to clip him and what we found was even more horrific than first thought (and smelt). 

Apart from being somewhat underweight, he has the worst bilateral ear infections I have ever seen which has in turn led to abcesses forming inside his mouth and gums as well as in his eye cavity (so the pus is also draining out from his tear ducts).

How this poor boy has survived the pain, let alone the vile pus pouring from his ears is just beyond my comprehension. He cried only a little whilst trying to groom him and clean out at least some of the pus so treatment could be started.

Amazingly, he is managing to wag his tail and show an interest in his new surroundings as well as having a healthy interest in dinner tonight (soft puppy food).

He will be seeing the vet first thing in the morning (Wed 14th Sept) and I shall update asap. It is highly likely that Stuart will require a general anaesthetic to clean his ears properly to see the true extent of the infection and is also likely that he will need to have most of his teeth removed due to rotting gums from the long term infection.
